Just some random mumbling, sounded like dishes clanking in the background as well. Left a voicemail on my *very* private and unlisted anywhere cellphone number today, 04/08/08 around 2:30pm.

Guy with an Indian accent speaking at the speed of an auctioneer, telling me I had filled out a ballot at Sears or Zellers and thereby won 1 of 4 prizes (trip, LCD TV, $1500 cash, or another trip). I was immediately suspicious, but I do in fact recall entering a draw some time ago so I decided to listen with a grain of salt just in case. He asked me if I was between 27-50-something (can't remember the exact age). Then asked me if I earn over $50K. Gave me an address and time to pick up the prize. He initially told me I could go on Tues, Wed, or Thurs at 6pm or 8pm, but then really pushed me for Tues. I agreed to Tues at 8pm, though I knew it was scam by this point and have no intention of going. The address is: 1510 Drew Rd. Unit #6 Corner of Dixie, North of Derry Mississauga ON L5S 1W7 Then I was transferred to another guy with an Indian accent to confirm all the details. Also talking at the speed of an auctioneer. He must have read off 5 legal size pages of 9pt font without taking a breath. (Yet, ironically, he told me that I spoke too fast when I gave single word answers to his questions.) I was struggling to hear everything, trying to catch the scam and as many details as possible to report them later. He repeated basically all the same things as the previous guy and said I would have to attend a 60-90min conference, that I'm not obligated to buy anything, and that I would receive the prize at the end. He said I would need to provide the following information when I arrived or I would be disqualified: 2 pieces of ID Same name, marital status & income Confirmation code: KAN81 He also said that since I identified myself as single, I MUST show up alone - no friend, no boyfriend, no guest. That really pissed me off. As a young single woman, there is no way in hell I would show up ALONE at some strange warehouse in the middle of nowhere at 8pm at the demand of some pushy stranger on the phone who I can barely understand. He asked me what time he could call to confirm my attendance. I offered two different times, but he said "we'll call you at 2pm." Might I also add that they contacted me on my cell phone during Thanksgiving dinner with my family. As soon as I got home, I researched this company & phone number to see if I could find out exactly what their scam is and who to report them to. I'm looking forward to their call tomorrow. I'm going to thank them for providing me with so much information about them, tell them I've registered on the National Do Not Call List and threaten to report them to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Act if they call again. Perhaps they got my info because I recently purchased an Apple iPhone, which I heard is a security issue, easily targeted by spammers & telemarketers? - T
